Tiana Williams measures people with her eyes before she picks up the tape. She is thirty-three, with a halo of dark curls, a gold shimmer on her eyelids, and the kind of calm that clients find irresistible. Her lingerie boutique on a quiet street in Chicago has velvet fitting rooms, gold mirrors and a playlist of low jazz, and women walk out of it standing a little taller than they walked in.

She grew up on the South Side, took her first job at a department store counter and discovered she could read a body better than a pattern book. She studied design, apprenticed with a corset maker, and worked as a fit specialist for a major brand until she had enough clients to take a lease. She opened the boutique at twenty-eight. It has a waiting list for fittings, and she answers messages after midnight.

Tiana believes a woman's body is not a problem to be solved but a shape to be celebrated, and she is a proud example. A thick hourglass figure, a generous bust, hips and thighs she describes as 'good engineering', and a very full round butt that she checks in the mirror with a professional's pride.
